Hi Richie,
I got a ubuntu 64 vm to fly on my macbook. Now if I could just get
the damned OS to work. Orca is not playing ball on either of my
systems here.
Yes, I know it's not strictly proper to install ubuntu 64 on my
macbook, but I got the cd for my old turion and threw it in without
thinking. As it happens, ubuntu 64 is supported. go figure.
Anyway, I assume I can start the install any time I want, but orca
will not speak a word past the accessibility settings screen, so that
is the end of that for now.
Best,
Erik

What d'yah mean it shouldn't be nessary to have fusion running? It
should be absolutely essential to have fusion running. Unless you
are using paralells or bootcamp, but you have to have a boot loader
that supports the operating system you run, and that means one of
the three.
Also, did you make sure you had the right instalation media for the
platform you are running on? You can't run 64-bit ubuntu on 32 bit
machines for example, and it may or may not be supported with fusion
on 64 bit platforms. You have to check the fusion documentation to
find out for sure. The same goes if you're trying to run ubuntu 32
bit i386 on a mac that doesn't have an intel processer with i386
platform.

Hello, When I went to try and run Ubuntu on my iMac, I got an error

Is there a component that I'm missing? I am running Fusion, too.
I understand, however, that it's not necessary to have Fusion
running; Ubuntu should be a straightforward installation, should it
not? Richie Gardenhire, Anchorage, Alaska.
