Some will say it matters, but here's my setup...Second generation
Macbook with a 5400RPM drive, 2GB Core2 processor, 2gb memory, firepod
audio interface, and I stream to a 7200RPM Western Digital Mybook
firewire drive. I can run The Grand, B4, and any other VST instruments
you care to want, and the computer never hickups... The Macbook Pro,
even in its stock configuration, will blow what I have out of the water.

the 200gb

Will 7200 rpm drives matter if you are using soft synths like b4 and
pro 53
and stuff? I mean, I want to get this asap, but don't want to
undersell
myself and be screwed.

I'm using the exact same setup you want...Sonar in Windows. So far,
none of the Mac software that we would even consider is quite
accessible to us, so this is the best way. BTW, opening your Macbook
and putting in new memory is the easiest thing! $200 is a rip for
that, especially for less than $200 more, you can get the Macbook Pro
that will be specked out better, and come with more memory.

What are you using to record music, and are you doing it in the Mac

I use it for music recording, and it works fine. Just make very sure
to disable the wireless card when you go to stream audio through your
Macbook. Trust me on this one. That goes for both playing, and
recording.

Kevin reeves
told me that he was having issues with latency on his MacBook with a
midi

Yamaha keyboard. Before I go plunking down $1800 on this thing, can
somebody
else who uses the mac book for audio work, preferably on stage with
a band,
message me and tell me this will work or not. The configuration I am
looking
at is the 2.4 ghz macd book with 4gb of ram.
