I bought two of the first black macbooks.  they cost more and if I remember 
they were the ones that burned dvds and the white ones did not.

Ah, now that you mention it, I recall that was the case. I think it
was that if you wanted a black Macbook, you did pay more for it. I'm
not so sure this is the case, but I recall now it was initially. I
can't imagine Apple would have continued with that program. I think it
was initially a gimic of sorts since I don't believe Apple had a black
notebook previously and I'm not sure they ever had a black machine
before, but I could be wrong about that.
