Hi Simon,

I've noticed the same thing, not so much with my macbook pro yet as
it's still fairly new, but with my previous mac power book and other
pc desktops and laptops. Think It's got something to do with
lubrication around motors drying up and parts in fans wearing down and
suchlike. On the few occasions it's been a hardware fault on the way
for me it's sounded considerably different to just general hardware
aging, so it's probably nothing to worry about. Thankfully, even when
my old power book was 5 years old it still ran quieter than many pc
laptops, so i'm hoping the pro will do so too.
