I don't know what the issue with text is because on all the pages I look at, I can get to everything on the page but the thing that trips me up is the apple start page which has a bit of something moving on it which causes vo to speak the text over and over unless I interact with it.
Firefox will not help. Safari is the best we have and most pages load quickly for me. It seems as though there is something going on with your system that is causing this strange behavior. On the Mac, certain apps and their configurations can introduce instabilities.
