Her is how it is done.

1. go to the Network Subsystem Preference
2. from the Network Services table select the interface you are using, likely the Ethernet 1 interface.
3. there is a configure popup button select Manual
4. Fill in the IP address field that will become editable. You will also need to fill in the Subnet Mask and Router IP address as well they should have given you these numbers when you got the IP.
5. Enter the DNS server IP address.

Close the System Preference and you should be good to go.

ok so i'm doing some computer work for the city of coffman cove in alaska. They use static ip's for there internet and they want me to give the new mac mini a static ip so i can connect it to there network. They assign the ip's. Please give me directions for this as soon as possible. Oh and they give dns information, and subnet mas information likewise. Where would i go? Oh and it's running leopard. Please let me know as soon as you can.
