Greg and Mykle,
I think it more appropiate to set up the Mac Mini using the locations
thing, only if you are using the machine in many places. Otherwise the
instructions Greg gave work. Actually, after you make a new location
and switch into it, Greg's instructions are better. I completely
forgot that is how you could do it easily, Smiles, Greg.

1. go to the Network Subsystem Preference
2. from the Network Services table select the interface you are
using, likely the Ethernet 1 interface.
3. there is a configure popup button select Manual
4. Fill in the IP address field that will become editable. You will
also need to fill in the Subnet Mask and Router IP address as well
they should have given you these numbers when you got the IP.
5. Enter the DNS server IP address.
Close the System Preference and you should be good to go.

network. They assign the ip's. Please give me directions for this
as soon as possible. Oh and they give dns information, and subnet
