Lol, I just did this at my university. To obtain the information you
will have to talk to someone in the Network Services or your network
administrator likewise. You network settings are under the Apple
menu -> location -> Network options. Or they can be found in System
preferences -> network.
1. Open the "Network settings" using either of the methods listed
above
2. In the settings -> location popup, choose edit location and
create a new location, calling it eg. work/whatever/city
3. go and hit ok/done to exit the dialogue.
4. Now choose your location from the location popup.
5. Now click Advanced, which is reachable by tabbing from the
location popup.
6. go to the Tcp/Ip tab and enter your information as requested,
using assign Ipv4 address as manually.
7. go to the dns tab and add the dns servers your network
administrator provides.
8. You will have to hit add dns servers which is the first button at
the bottom of the table.
9. Click "OK".
10. Now tab around to "Apply".
You are done.
11. Use the location menu in the Apple menu to rapidly switch betwee
locations. You can still use your current settings which were
untouched durring my instructions by accessing the locations menu.

give the new mac mini a static ip so i can connect it to there
network. They assign the ip's. Please give me directions for this
as soon as possible. Oh and they give dns information, and subnet
mas information likewise.
Where would i go? Oh and it's running leopard. Please let me know
