Hello there Simon. I hope you are well.
I am currently using hte ATT Tilt, which is put out by ATT, and it is
pocket pc phone. This would mean, if someone purchased such a phone,
they would have to get Mobile Speak Pocket, as that is the version for
PDA phones.
I like it a lot, and the screen reading software is very accessible.
For carriers who have smiliar phones, Sprint has the Sprint Mogal, and
will soon update that phone to a newer PA phone sometime this fall.
Other phones that have the standardized keyboard, without the sliding
mechanism like PDA phones, are hte SmartPhones. Those use Mobile
Speak Smart PHone. I always hear good things about the Samsung, and
Motorola phones that are provided for the vaious companies.
I appologize for hte off topicness of the email I am sending.
Best,
Fonzie

Dear David,
thanks for this information - very helpful for I hope not too
distant future. By the way, and slightly off topic, what do people
on the list use in terms of mobile phones with mobile speak from
code factory? Anybody using a smart phone without sight with this
screen reader? What are your experiences? Please e-mail me off line
not to clog the list up. I'm thinking of changing my mobile and
using mobile speak as I don't think Apple's Iphone is going to be
accessible soon.
Thanks in anticipation, Simon

Incase some are unaware of this, codefactory has provided helpful
info on
installing mobilespeak on the mac in the "quick start guide". I had
forgotten this but remember seeing a while back and saw it again
today. If
you need help finding the guide, let me know and I'll send it to
you. One
of the things they do is link to a fairly comprensive page on how
to get
.exe files to extract on the Mac. One of the products they
recommend for
extracting files is something called "file chooser". It seems to
be free
and only extracts and save the .cab files from the mess.
I'm not saying that this is the solution that we should ultimately
have, but
it does show that CF has put some thought into mac os users getting
mss to
work using a Mac.
