Well there is a way, but you'd have to interact with the list of
tracks being downloaded. There is a status stpot and once the download
is complete, the area is blank. Not the solution we want, but all you
have to do is send some nice feedback to our friends at Apple, in
particular via the iTunes feedback, and I bet they'll address it in a
future version. So, let them know, they may not have thought of this
or had the opportunity, etc. Either way, just let them know and I'm
sure they'll listen.
