Actually the chassis of the MacBook is titanium and the polycarbonate shell is over that. <smile> Not to be knit picky, but it makes a pretty big diff when talking about the machine as a whole. titanium is great for heat conductivity and both the chassis and shell make it a very durable design, while still being way stylin' <smile>

Even though, yes, to the end user, it appears plastic.

Just a quickie FYI.

Have a great day!…

Smiles,

Cara :)

If I recall, all Mac books will be aluminum if not now, in the not to distant future.

Hi Alex,

You forgot a couple of things. The chassey of the standard is plastic. The chassey of the pro is aluminum.

The onbord sound is much better on the pro.
The standard comes in 13 inch and 15 inch sizes and the pro comes in 15 and 17 inch.

Best,

Hi,
Thanks for the help and those explainations. If I do get one, I'd probably get a Mac Book since it seems like it would serve my needs just fine.
Again, thanks for the help,

Hi,

I have now worked on both. The difference is truely in the high amount of capacity in the screen. You have to love those beautiful graphics. You also have a firewire 800 port and a firewire 400 port on the pro and only the firewire 400 on the Macbook. You also have a pci-mini port to use for tethering on a cellular network and a full sized dvi port on the Macbook pro and only a DVI mini port on the Macbook needing a Ca$30 adapter to become full sized vga, s-video, or dvi. I believe the Macbook pro has this DVI mini port also, but I am not sure. I think I have covered the basic differences.

Thanks for listening,
Alex,
