Nope, I didn't mean to imply you were challenging him, I was just
expanding on what I thought David was enthusing over. There's nothing
in the manuals -- or in the basic set up instructions for that matter
-- that requires anybody to check the Player Status window in iTunes,
and the storage space statistics you mention are on the iPod Summary
page. If you didn't know this information was being reported, and
that download information status about the attached iPod device, as
well as about any tracks you are currently playing in iTunes, was
displayed in this window, would you think to look there? (Well, in
your case, the answer is probably yes <grin>,) I know that David was
tracking the sync progress, because I repeated the information about
what he should hear reported (if he did a VO-up arrow twice from the
iPod's status pages) in the exchanges about possible trouble-
shooting. I don't know whether most people want to monitor this
stuff, though.
For that matter, I don't know that most people would want to get the
LineIn app from Rogue Amoeba so they could plug their iPod Nano 4G
into the line-in jack of their Mac and route the sound output to their
speakers. It was kind of cool to crank the output volume up and
listen to things whirr while the sync took place and when I ran the
software update. I probably won't make a habit of that <smile>.

P.S. To keep up with the sync progress status updates you should move
your VoiceOver cursor on and off the Player Status window (e.g. VO-
left and VO-right), since you'll only hear the window update and
report status at the time you move into it.

Seriously though, I agree, I absolutely love the progress / level
of access that has just happened here over night as it were. yes,
there are a couple of things I'd like to see, but I'm super
impressed!
