Hi,
I deal with developing online courses for use with bb, webct,
eCollege and other integrated systems. The core engines are fairly
good with VO and Safari if you're running bb v 7 or higher, webct 4
or CE 6. Chat rarely works for the normal users, so don't feel bad
about lack of VO support there. :)
Another poster stated that webct was purchased by blackboard. That
is true, but webct is still a product and is not the same as
blackboard.
One question is the type of course you are taking, some online
courses that we develop require flash to deal with complex math and
graphing questions that are not accessible. So, even though the
core system is accessible, it's really the course content, sometimes
called the bb cartridge or webct epack that may guide your decision.
That said universities should fall under section 508 and the Dean or
instructor should be able to provide alternatives or equivalents,
especially if you select a state school.
My personal opinion is to avoid the for profit schools and stick to
state or not for profit.

Folks, I'm planning to go back to school and I had first looked at
and registered with Phoenix online. First their registration process
was not accessible with Safari and well on windows it was not much
better. I'm looking at American Public University which is a part of
the American University system. My understanding is they use Black
Board for the online portion of their courses. I was wondering if
anyone has had any experience with Black Board and Safari and would
let me know how successful they were with it.
