Guys, I just had my first dealings with the ITunes online store
support.
I must say, I was a little sceptical about whether the live chat client
would work with Voiceover, but shockingly enough, it's ever so slightly
tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it works fantasticly!
There are a few things though that I need to make you aware a...
Firstly:
When you move your vo cursor to the chat now link, you can't hit vo
space on it to load the chat client. You have to actually even if
cursor tracking's on, route your mouse with Vo command F5. Then do vo
shift space, to actually literally click the link.
Once the client opens, you're basically gonna see two items. You're
gonna have a link that has some really weird numerical number, and just
to the left of that, if you gvo left one time from there, will be
something that says initial frame html content. So what you wanna do,
is interact with that initial frame. Then if you vo right, you'll see
that it wants some info from you before you begin.
Basicly it wants your first and your last name, your ITunes store
account e-mail address, and then the reason for your chat session.
once you have filled all that in, stop interacting with that frame.
Then vo right one time back to that numerical link. That believe it or
not, is the continue button. So, again, for some reason, none a these
links are vo spaceable. I don't know why, but they're not. So, route
your mouse, and again, do a vo shift space, to click it. Now, you're
basicly in an edit box where you can type your message. When you wanna
send, just hit return. Just like you'd do in Adium or IChat for
instance.
Now here're where things get kind a somewhat tricky.
Basicly, for one, be aware: the history's not gonna read
automatically. What I personally wound up doing, was from that edit
field, if you vo left one time, you'll land on the last message sent.
That may be a message you sent the agent, or it may be the agent
talking to you. Either way, once you see what was said, just vo right
again back to the edit box, type your msg, and hit return to send it.
Now, two things to watch out for:
Firstly, be aware that when you send an msg, if you vo left after
sending, it seems to be taking me to the second most recently send msg,
so what you may then have to do, is vo right and then you'll see it.
Does that make sinse? In other words, ok, you're on the text area.
you type a message: "Hello mam, how are you? I need help with ITunes."
then hit return.
Now vo left. You may hear something like: "Jo blow: Hi, my names
Joe, how may I assist you today?" Notice how that would have been sent
right before what you just wrote? So now, vo right once. Now you may
hear that edit box, but odds are, you'll then hear your name, followed
by if you vo right again, what you said. so yeah, it's a little weird,
but, with a little work, it is? doable!
The second of the two things to watch out for, is if you vo left and
get to the last message sent, if you then vo down arrow once, you'll
then either hear the edit box, or, you'll hear a status message like:
"Jo Blow is typing."
So that may be useful to know about.
I wonder how easy it would be for someone to make an apple script so
those msgs would read automatically like they would in Adium.
Anyway, when you're all done talking to them, just hit command w, and
that'll close the chat window and return ya to Safari.
I hope someone can find this info helpful.
Chris.
