The classics don't talk, only the nanos do.

Thanks guys. I forced quit iTunes and then reset the iPod. When I went back into ITunes the restore worked perfectly. So now it appears to be working with my mac, but I thought the apple store people told me it would come up talking if the boxes were checked in universal access... Which they are and no talky. Maybe I need to go and buy something like an ITel for that to happen, but the tech at the apple store distinctly told me I could get up and talking without one. Any one ever done this? I've checked the archives but didn't find anything.

Thanks,

It shouldn't take you that long, but then I wasn't converting mine.

Hi guys, any one know how long it's supposed to take to restore an Ipod classic? I think it's been labouring away for an hour or two here. Unfortunately I can't interact with the progress bar in that window, so I don't know if it's moving, but I can hear that the hard drive is powered up, and if I put the back of the unit flat against one ear and my hand flat against the other ear, I think I can hear activity on the drive. Two hours though... Should I be worried? I just got it, and it was set up for windows when I need it for mac.

Thanks,
