Hi David
Nope, I haven't tried this at least not in Windows (not even sure when
the last time I booted my Windows VM was). It did work in FreeBSD
however. Note that vmWare fusion does not support serial device
emulation, so you actually need the serial converter connected
directly to the VM for it to work properly with two-way communication.
Without bidirectional communication a hardware synthesizer won't work
correctly. I'll fire up my Windows VM here and give it a shot though,
as I still have my fully-functioning Doubletalk LT. It will be with
window-eyes that I try it, I don't have nor do I want a copy of jaws.

Hi Jacob,
Have you tried running a hardware synthesiser in a VM session using
this
adapter? I tried and couldn't get mine to work, I just heard
garbage coming
out of my Keynote SA when activating it under a VM session using
Wineyes or
Jaws. Thanks in advance,
David Truong

Subject: Re: Need USB to Serial Adapter
I'll also recommend the Keyspan serial adapter. It works great and
handles every serial task you can throw at it. It costs $29, so it's
one of the more expensive serial adapters, but it's worth it if you
need it. The model number of mine, for the record, is the Keyspan
USA19HS. I got mine from newegg.com.
As one lister has said, make sure that it is indeed the serial
connection that you need. If you need a parallel connector then a USB
serial adapter won't help, and you'll need to find a USB parallel
adapter that has a Mac driver.

Hi guys,
Figured I'd put this in a separate message so it wouldn't get
lost. I
won that Braille Blazer and now need a recommendation of a good usb
to
serial adapter. Alternatively, if it's possible to print from the
parallel port, I'll accept one of those. But I know they're
expensive
and I just spent $168 on the embosser so don't want to make a
mistake.
Thanks,
