Wow Chris. That makes sense. Sounds like I have to experiment a lot
with Skype and all it's images when I got time to it. Do you also know
how to use the "missed call" feature? That's another thing I don't
know how to use.
Best regards

OK, this is kind a rough, but let me explain the deal to yall.
OK, firstly and foremost,
You wanna bring up Skype. Now, once it's up, you wanna vo right
arrow until you hear use regular contact view popup button.
Now vo space on that popup and make sure that it's set to regular
contact view. Oddly enough, I am not having very good luck with
this in compact view, so be aware.
Now, basicly, here's the deal:
Yes, you have an option in the account menu that says edit mood
message... however, there are a few things that you gotta do before
this is gonna work.
Basically, now that you're on regular contact view, the situation is
this:
Basicly, in a nutshell, you have a couple of unlabled images on the
screen. they're not buttons, or scroll areas or anything like that,
they're just images. I mean, they actually are things, but vo's
gonna see 'em just as nothing more than unlabeled images. Now,
there is a little? problem with this. The thing is this:
By default, Voiceover's set to navigate images, so that is fine.
The problem! however, is it is not! set to automatically announce
unlabeled! images. so, because a this, you're not gonna be able to
chhange your mood message. So, here is the work around trick.
1. Start Skype if it's not already running. If it is, then go
command tab to it.
2. OK, now that it's up in the foreground, what I want you to do,
is vo right for me until you get that use regular contact view
button. It's labeled so don't fret. Once there hit vo space for me
on it.
2. OK, now vo up and down arrow for me until you get to use regular
compact view. If it's already checked, then just hit escape, but
otherwise, hit vo space on it to select it in the popup menu.
3. OK, great! That's set. Now, this is gonna sound stupidly
irrelivent, but hear? me, out. you gotta? do this, or it won't
work. Hit Vo F8 to bring up your voiceover utility.
4. OK, this is gonna land you in the catagory table, assuming
you're using Leopard. If you're in Tiger, then, I think! this is
under the web tab. Either that or navigation, but in any rate,
getting back to Leopard, which is what most a you all are using
anyway, you wanna interact with this catagory table you landed in,
so do vo shift down arrow for me.
5. OK, now, vo down arrow until you get to where it says web. Once
there do a vo shift up arrow to stop interacting with that table.
6. OK, now, what I want you to do, is to vo right arrow until you
reach a checkbox that says something to the effect of navigate
images. This should! be already checked, but if it's not, then
check it, please.
7. Now? here? comes the magic jellybean! Vo right one more time
for me. Notice what it said? Navigate unlabled images. You wanna
check that box. By default as you see, it isn't checked.
8. now you're all set. so, command w to close that voiceover
utility.
9. Now: back in the Skype window, hit command comma to get to the
Skype preferences. I just wanna make sure of one thing.
10. interact with the toolbar in this window. Then vo right until
you get to the advanced button, and hit vo space on it. This should
stop you interacting with the toolbar, but do a vo shift up arrow
anyway, until you hear a little ding.
11. Now vo right to the checkbox that says show itunes song info in
my mood message. Make sure it's unchecked.
12. Once you see it's unchecked, then do command w to close outta
the preferences. OK, now you're all set to rock and roll.
13. Now what we're gonna do, is go up in the menu bar, so hit vo
m. Then right arrow until you get the account menu. Then down
arrow to open it.
14. Down arrow one more time to select the first option in the
menu. Then type the word edit. this should land you on edit mood
message elipsis.
15. ok, hit return on that.
16. OK, it's not gonna appear it did anything, but again: hear me
out. This next part's kind a tricky, but is very? doable, once you
know what to do. What I want you to do for me now, is vo left and
right until you reach the contact list table. Don't interact with
it, just vo over to it. You'll know you're there, as it's the only
table in this window.
17. OK, now: notice something: vo left one time from that table.
Didja hear that? Image. You didn't hear that before didja. See,
the reason you didn't, is because you didn't have unlabeled images
enabled in the web catagory of the voice over utility. So, that's
why it was skipping over these. So vo right again for me to the
table. This way we're at home base, and I know where you're at.
18. OK, now vo left one time from that table. Remember: don't
interact with the table, just go there, then vo left once from it.
You'll hear image.
19. OK, now, vo left again. You'll hear it say image again. That!
is your mood text. So, even if you have cursor tracking on, hear me
out.
20. Do a vo command F5 to route your mouse pointer. Then, watch
this.
21. Do vo F5. Not? vo command! F5, but just vo? F5. See? You're
mouse is now on your mood text. If you didn't hear anything, that's
fine, cause you may not have anything in your mood msg. In any
rate...
22. Now hit vo shift space. Not? vo space. If you do vo space,
it'll just ding atcha. So, vo shift space, to click.
23. Now you're in your mood edit box. Pretty cool! Huh? So, if
you start typing, it's gonna append to the enda what you already
have there, so even if it's already blank, you cannot be too sure.
So hit the delete key. If you don't have a delete key, then just
hit back space, until you get a baunk, and it's all cleared out.
24. Now type your new mood msg, and then hit return.
That's it, my friend!
You're all done! Congrads, you just changed your mood text!
Now if you wanna change it again, just go back to that second image
to the left a the table, route your mouse, then click, and hit
delete, to cflear all of it out, type a new msg, and hit return.
Be aware, if you command q and quit Skype, then, the next time you
open up Skype, you'll have to go to edit mood message in the account
menu before you can get that second image thingy to work.
More Skype typs and tricks coming soon.
Chris.
