Hi Patick,

The iSight non-recognition could have been a problem with an installed driver for the device. That came up in a search I did when I answered Krister in another thread. In those instances uninstalling the problem device driver reportedly made the iSight visible to the system again. The problem is, the only place where this might have happened (by my reading of Krister's description) is through a driver loaded for the VMWare Fusion side, and I have no idea how, if at all, this might affect the device recognition on the Mac side. The other thing I found and mentioned (from an Apple Knowledge Base post on trouble- shooting the iSight -- link to the post was in my response to Krister and I don't have it handy now) was that they recommended resetting the SMC unit that powers the Video. This was specifically for the iMac. However, I figured that since Krister was talking to the Apple Support folks, she had probably been given all the recommendations in the Knowledge Base post. This isn't something that I know about myself, since I don't have an iMac and was only trying out search queries. (I also don't run Fusion.) The problematic device driver part seemed a possible answer.

Cheers,

Esther

Yes, and furthermore, allthough the log in the connection doctor showed nothing was wrong, when i went into the preferences of Ichat, the microphone was visible, but Ichat reported that there was no camera connected to the computer and gave me no further choises. Well, the computer is on repair now, so we hope all will be well.
