The iPod will still charge when ejected. It draws power from the USB port, regardless of whether iTunes is running or not.

The iPod will charge while it's connected to your Mac even after it's been ejected but it will NOT charge if the computer is in sleep mode (just in case any users have left their iPods to charge and walked away from the computer). And if you wake up your computer with the (ejected) iPod connected via its USB cable the iPod will behave as though you just plugged the USB cable in (e.g., it might try to sync, depending on your settings).

Hi there.

I have the 8 gb model. I bought my iPod dock with the nano at the same time but i'm hoping 4 hours is more then enough time to charge a totally dead battery.

According to the User's Guide, "The iPod nano battery is 80-percent charged in about one and a half hours, and fully charged in about three hours." I didn't try to measure this, but I did notice that being able to turn off Coverflow after the 1.0.3 firmware (around November 11) gave me better playback lifetime. Still waiting to find out what performance will be like with the new headsets that support voice recording (when they arrive). By all reports their audio performance sounds very nice.

Cheers,

Esther
