so did you hold down the power button as instructed? this may not be
a flaw at all. in the instance of having to hold down the power
button, you hold it down till you hear a long beep and then continue
till it restarts.

Hi Jeffery, this probably has nothing to do with the update. The
ICal helper is a function of ICal which alerts you to items /
appointments in your calendar by bringing up a window with the
particular event shown in it.
So, as I have ICal synced with my calendar in my phone, I'll get
ICal helper coming up from time to time letting me know of upcoming
events / appointments and such.
this is normal behavior and you might want to check your calendar
to see if anything is set to alert you.
