Hello John:

I experienced difficulty as well setting up mail and getting messages sent ... so I can imagine the level of frustration you are feeling.

One thing that solved my problem was changing the outgoing port on the SMTP server to 587 if it has not been changed already. the default is 25 and that did not work for me at all.

I am presuming you know how to edit the server settings? if so, give that a look and see if that moves you along the road of total mac happiness (smile).

Good luck and happy new year.

Hi All

I am a new Mac user and am enjoying the Nac with Voice Over having
previously used JAWS.

The only problem is with Mail as I have tried all I know to utilise Mail
with limited success. Being in the UK my ISP is BT internet but I have
only managed to receive incoming e-mails via the POP server and only
after unchecking the SSL check box to enable this. My problem is that I
can not send an e-mail as theSMTP server, according to a dialogue box,
is rejecting my password or user name. I have checked this out and I am
totally frustrated as nothing I do seems to work and I am positive the
password is correct as I have changed this only a week ago. Any UK users
using BT with any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have to revert to my Windows PC to send this e-mail.
And all the best for a great New Year from Scotland.

John
