Hello; I don't know if this will help or not, but when I got my first
mac a little over a year ago I had the same problem getting set up
with people pc. I was on hold waiting to talk to a customer service
rep when I heard a f a q message about setting up pop 3. It said that
I had to put smtpauth instead of smtp in that field for it to work
right. Once I did that, I never had any more problems sending mail.
Another thing to check is that some i s p's require you to use your
whole email address instead of just your screen name when signing in
through pop access. I would actually try the second thing I mentioned
