Hello Scott,
Fantastic. I just wanted to be sure. I was wrong, he has the touch.

Hi Dan I assume you mean the iPod touch? The nano does not have
wireless as a feature. TO answer both questions, you can do several
things, but here is what I suggest. At the very least, as long as
all devices on the network support wpa or wpa2, I would use this as
the encryption scheme. I would not use wep of any type. Your other
option is to use mac address filtering and this will keep folks off
your network, but not from sniffing your network and that is why I
prefer wpa/wpa2. The Icon does support wpa2 so you shouldn't have
any problems.
If you have other questions, let me know.

Hello Scott,
Fantastic. It's looking more and more like I'll go with one of the
Airport routers. I was just reading the manuals for both the
Airport router as well as for the Time-capsule. The instructions
are well written. One of the things I really like is that when the
amber light is on, the utility will open and display all pertinent
information. I am really sold on Airport and I am just about to the
point of making my mind up along that direction.
If you don't mind, I do have two other questions.
1. How should my Son log on with his Ipod Nano? For example,Wood it
be best to set up a MAC address?
2. If you don't know, perhaps someone else might know about this
one. How should I set up my Icon to work on the Airport?
Thanks so much to everyone.

I have both a windows laptop and several Macs on my network that
uses an Apple time Capsule. The Time Capsule is the AirPort
Extreme with the drive built-in. I have also used Linux machines
on the network and I currently have a windows and Linux VM running
on my Mac and yet have had no issues at all in these setups either.

Hello Dan,
Thanks for your observations.
That's another option to seriously consider.
While I doubt if there are really any problems, along this line,
I do have a question.
Are there any particular problems associated with setting up
other platforms on the airport router, such as Windows or Linux?
Thanks.

Hi, at onetime, I did have a Linksys, and had no issues with
it in Safari, however, I'd often lose my connection when I'd be
right in the middle of something, , and as a result, have to
unplug the router for a few seconds, and plug it back in. THese
times of having to do that got so frequent, and plus I wanted
something to back up my Mac, and use TIme Machine with, so I got
a 500 gig Time Capsule, and haven't had the experience of
things cutting out at all like I did with the Linksys router.
So I'd highly recommend going with an apple base station of some
sort.

Hello everyone,
We are getting ready to purchase either a wireless router and
Cable modem or a Cable modem Wireless Router combined.
So my question is this. Which router has the best and clearest
interface for Safari and VO?
Or would I be better to consider an Airport base station.
We will also be connecting a few windows machines and a Linux
box as well.
Thanks.
