You're correct, that is the current generation of the Mini and not the
first Intel generation. The first generation of Intel Minis came with
a maximum of a 1.83 ghz processor.
I'm not sure what's going on with your Airport card. It almost sounds
like the driver isn't able to load, or is otherwise unable to
communicate with it. It obviously worked at one time, as your machine
did have a pre-existing Airport service configuration (that's why it
got named Airport 2 when you tried to add it).
