Actually I got it working, thanks to everyone who offered some hints.
What I did was, added the air port service, then restarted. While I
don't have my own wireless network, I can now see others which is all
I wanted to do at this point. Now I know it will work if I take my mac
mini some place that has wireless access. One other question, if air
port is enabled, and you are also connected to an ethernet network,
which one is used. I will probably just make this simple and only have
one connected at a time, but I thought it was worth asking.

Hi,
Do a backup and and then fire up the Leopard DVD and install as
normal, except choose Archive and Install as the method for
installation.
Thanks,

Hi everyone. Well, I really am beginning to wonder if I may have a
bad air port card in this mac mini, I'venever heard of a mac having
one of these, but it's certainly possible I guess. I don't have a
wireless network here, but wanted to make sure it worked in case I
would need it at some point. When I look at the status menu for air
port, it says not configured and it's dimed. When I go to network
preferences, the services listed are ethernet, fire wire, and blue
tooth. So, I added the airport service, although it called it air
port 2 for some reason. Once the service was added, I selected the
button to turn air port on, but it still indicated that air port
was off. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening here?
Did I miss something obvious?
