Dear Anne,
Thank you so much for this. I didn't realise that you could have use
of the menus while starting from the disk. So I felt totally out of
control. It was a valuable experience but one not to be repeated in a
hurry. Thanks to Mac, I was not left high and dry but had control over
the installation with Voiceover. Thanks again, Anne, and my best and
warmest wishes, Simon

Hello Simon,
To repair disk from the Install disc, select Use English as the main
language and press Continue, then on the next screen, go to the menu
bar. If you go right, you'll find Utilities, and somewhere in that
menu you'll find Disk Utility.
Cheers,
Anne

Dear All,
I ran Onyx yesterday and received a message from the application
that my startup volume needed to be repaired and that I should
restart my computer from the disk and go to disk utilities.
The following happened:
1. I inserted the disk and started the computer while holding the
letter C down. The computer booted but proceeded to install Leopard
again. try as I might, I couldn't get out of the situation, and
worried I might damage the whole thing, I felt compelled to
continue with reinstalling the operating system. Well, it took
hours and hours late into the night. (You don't want to know how I
feel this morning. Smile)
2. Did I make a mistake? Was there a way of booting from the disk
without installing the OS again and as suggested by Onyx going to
disk utilities? I also noticed that when installing the OS I got a
different voice in Voiceover not Alex.
If you could shed any light on this event in case I have to do it
again, I would appreciate.
I wonder whether my startup volume had a problem because I had been
fiddling with Fusion.
With best wishes
Simon
