While a nice suggestion, the reality is that PR costs money, and last I checked, there were no free (as in beer) PR firms. Mozilla is a client of SparkPR, an agency in the Bay Area. They pay a retainer fee to have the firm represent them on an ongoing basis. They had $2-3 million USD to work with after AOL spun them off. Even their "community" NYT ad PR cost them $20,000-$30,000. If you think there are ways we can raise enough funds to afford to keep a PR firm on retainer, then I'm open to hearing suggestions. Last I heard, we had $8,000 in a Paypal account, and that ain't enough.

I see money is a problem. But 2.0 ist a good occasion to increase popularity. Don't ask me how, but people have to start talking about OOo. It's a great office software, it can handle ms office files and it's free. I think that is the firefox-effect, and I think that is possible to reacht that without an enourmaous ammount of money.
