A few people have been encouraging me to start a blog (*cough* peer pressure *cough*). In particular, one with RSS feeds (whatever that is) that can be fed into Ximian planet.
Personally, I'm new to the world of blogging. I don't know what RSS is and what it has to do with any planet. So I'd love to hear a recommendation.
a free hosting service is Google's Blogger: http://www.blogger.com/. it offer Atom feeds, which can be aggregated by Planet.
if you want to host it on your own server, then Word Press is a solution http://wordpress.org/
as an alternative, there should be a Plone add-on for blogs and RSS so you can use OOoAuthors.
not at least, maybe http://www.freeyourfiles.com/ can be revived, it has hosting, blogging engine (Drupal) and RSS feeds.
