Ok. Then we've found a bug in OOo 1.1.2 and earlier on OS X.

The File->Open dialog will *not* let me open a text file in Calc unless I rename it to .csv. Nor wil it let me open the same file in Writer unless I rename it .txt. Never has, for as long as I can remember.

It's a useful way of passing data to and from scripts. If there's a better way, then speak up, but this issue does need to be fixed.

Having an option to force a file type when opening (e.g. Open As) would go a long way to solve that problem. That would also avoid the program misinterpreting how the file should be dealt with.
Maybe that's already in the newset version or beta, but since I'm using 1.1.2, I don't see it.

The Open dialog already does that, and has for as long as I remember.
