That's complete crap, Jonathon. I *use* an older version of MSO
*EVERYDAY* and it interacts just fine with files created on other
versions of MSO almost daily.

I don't know where you're getting your information, but from my
personal experience first hand, I can tell you that you are wrong.

My experience shows different Chad, I have spreadsheets created in MSO2001 that will not open correctly with 2003, and I have some from 2003 that will not open correctly with 2001, granted these are rather complex spreadsheets with lots of math functions and functions that call other tabs within the sheets, but It took me 2 days to upgrade one spreadsheet to 2003 and now it will not work in 2001. So now I am one of 3 guys in the office that can use the spreadsheet the way I designed it to work and the others have to use the original that does not do near the automatic stuff that I was able to make this one do.

Sure I can open the file, but if I try to do certain things with it it actually reboots my computer, which is better than what it was doing before, which was rebooting the server.

he will *HAVE TO* up grade. When a MSO 97 or 98 user comes across a MS

He _will_ have to upgrade. No ifs, ands, or buts,.

MSO97 can not correctly read files created by MSO98, MSOXP, MSO2003.

There are some _major_ differences in the file formt between MSO97, and
MSOXP.

MSO users from 97 on up can interact with MSO user from 97 on up backwards

and forwards without any add-ons or special tools....

So long as they have the same version of MSO as the document was created
on.
