After reading an interesting article on NewsForge by Roblimo about
the adoption
of Linux after the new 'MacTel' (macs on intel) become available. I
wonder what
will this mean for the OSX users of OOo / NeoOffice J.
I doubt that it will make a big difference. The problem of the Mac port
doesn't lie in the low level area (CPU etc.), OOo already runs on a MAC,
but not in the native look and feel. It's the port of OOo to the MAC GUI
toolkit and its event model that is so hard to achieve. Both are not
expected to be different in the "MacTel" so the porting effort shouldn't
be influenced by the hardware base.
And I surely never thought that, but the potential new developers that
will have
mac on their pc's and could work in the OOo port to Cocoa and other Mac
toolkits.
Best regards,
