Since you and many others are probably wondering the same thing about
myself, I will answer for *me*:
I *do* have a life and too many other things to do, both off and
online, to waste my time trolling.
I have been subscribed for a short time to the Linux Kernel developers
list. Down there it's *much* worse than here, in my opinion,
netiquette-wise (no need to waste time describing how). But I didn't
care at all in that case. Because, as "open" as it is, that one is a
list for a very, very limited elite. Almost every human being will
never bother to read the kernel source, or patch/compile it, so as
long their work is available to everybody, we can let that closed
group communicate *internally* however they damn please. We would
never post or subscribe to *that* list anyway, so why bother?
But OO.o/OpenDocument are different. Everybody since elementary
schools need a free (as in freedom) office suite and file format.
Including the billions of people who have trouble even switching on
a computer. Here it is about equal opportunities, civil rights and so
on.
THIS is the reason why I keep bitching so much about these issues:
*exactly* because I find OO.o/OpenDocument too important for everybody
to not support *everybody* (including unsubscribed) IN THE MOST
EFFECTIVE WAY. Forcing moderators to do so much manually and regular
(more expert) users to endure a lot of totally unnecessary messages is
not effective.
