In what way is Microsoft Outlook integrated in Microsoft Office that you
also want Thunderbird or another email client to be integrated with
OpenOffice.org?
Usually Word is used as an HTML editor (similar way writer is) but is
integrated
on the BODY of the email document. Witht he latest Outlook it also show emails
as documents (they add a gray background and a white body in a similar fashion
OOo display documents).
Another integration is the journaling feature which lets you track down
documents and related with contacts and dates. Making a querky project
management/costumer relationship management app.
StarOffice 5.2 used to have an email application which was taken out
when 6 came
about. We still have some version of an email conectors available here:
Also you can really generate and implement a complete new XML-Mail protocol
pushed by OASIS under XMTP (http://xml.coverpages.org/xmtp.html)
Maybe the right question would be:
- Can we build an email application as a diferente project that
integrate on OOo
- Can we work with Thunderbird team to build the necesary bridges to generate
that integration level.
Basically what people want is to move their mail to OpenDocument and viceversa
as part of the content and not the attachment.
Can we lik to the Thunderbird addressbook and relate documents with
contacts. I
will be too rushed to check this out but it seems all this integration is
possible on a KDE enviroment where Kontact can export and import directly from
KOffice.
I don't have Microsoft Office or Microsoft Outlook so please explain.
I guess you can see this on the MS Outlook website demo.
