That maybe true - but I doubt it's easier to parse than MSO 2003 XML or the next version. I mean, XML is XML. I think the main reason they'd prefer ODF to DOC has nothing to do with parsing, searching, or technical merit. I think it would be because success for ODF means failure for MSO. Failure for MSO - or MS in general - is a Good Thing (tm) for Google. Especailly after they buy Sun.
