Before using this product I want to know if there is any spyware or any other
type of information gathering that is not obvious in, or associated with the
free software I would get from you?

Hello

No, there really isn't. Since it's Open Source, you can check for
yourself (if you have the time and knowledge to do so), but there
isn't any spyware involved in OpenOffice.org. Contrary to commercial
programs, OOo isn't helped by spying on your computer activity.

2 aspects might be considered as information gathering: the
registration and questionaire that you encounter when installing OOo -
but it's you who determines whether and what is communicated.
And the 'looking for update' function, that you can simply disable.
