The major issue is with font size changes that are neither dropped nor
raised capitals;
According to the typographic 'rule' that I cited in my previous
message, if a user has in-line font-size changes then the user should
set the overall line spacing large enough to accommodate them. A quick
test indicates that if 1x, 1.5x or 2x line spacing is specified then
OOo expands the line spacing for the individual line containing the
larger character. Is this 'correct'? Maybe not, but it is pragmatic.
If the user wants typographically nice line spacing then they can
specify a Fixed spacing.
Leading _should_ correctly handle diacritic marks.
Agreed.
The addition of 3x might cause a problem for the graphical display
of the current settings in the Indents & Spacing tab of the Format
> Paragraph dialogue box.
That is a drop down box. I don't see how that can cause a problem
with the graphic display of the settings.
On the right-hand side of the dialogue box is a graphical display with
light and dark grey bars illustrating the current settings. The
vertical spacing of the bars reflects a line-spacing setting of 1x,
1.5x or 2x. If one had a 3x setting, the last one or two bars would be
pushed off the bottom of the display. Presumably the display could be
lengthened.
