OpenOffice.org (OO.o) is given to you as long as you adhere to your part of the LGPL. You agree to the LGPL when you install and run OO.o. </quote> That statement I associate with "end user". There is nothing in that clause that indicates that it is for distributors, developers, copylefters, whatevers. Regardless, the end user can certainly be affected by a change in licensing, and should be concerned enough to carefully review. Do you somehow believe that only single individuals use OOo? License changes can also easily affect a company, corporation, or even government that redistributes copies of the program to employees, etc. Hence my question(s) and attempt to understand the requirement to accept the license. Further, on the users list we receive questions regularly from people, companies, and even a government entity on occassion regarding whether they are free to use OOo. For the most part they are pointed to: http://www.openoffice.org/FAQs/faq-licensing.html and http://www.openoffice.org/license.html and the answer is always a blanket: yes you can use it free of ... blah. However a question was asked just recently that pointed out this very issue - accepting the license when the GPL (which LGPL is part of) states that it's not necessary. No one on the list could answer; so given these new announcements & this thread I am trying to understand and be better able to answer that question in the future. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
