I understand that not everyone know how to code but everyone could
look for means to get the resources needed to make it happen. Whether
that means hire someone else, or just convince them. Again most non
developers also don't understand the time an effort that coding means
either.

I am glad that you went on an experience being involved in QA and I
guess that you also got to expeirence all the things that need to be
done to test. The effort you put is a good view on the time we need to
put into to solve issues on our part. So please hire people so we get
things done faster and can get to your 'requests'. Does that sound
fair?

I like your concept of nonprogramming OOo community members conscripting programmers into the process. But unless one *can* convince programmers to do it for free I suspect at USD 60 per hour most of us could not afford to pay someone....

I did NOT test anything for Mac porting, I guess I did not make myself clear on that. The instructions I received were enough to make smoke come out of my ears, starting with having to build from nightly snapshots on my machine. I neither know how to do that nor have the time. So then I used a milestone but could not decipher the very-programmer-oriented and not-very-end-user-oriented fields and UI for running tests. Then there was something about automated tests (??? I don't think that even works on Mac) and something about smoke test or something. I had no idea how to do any of it, yet the suggestion on various project sites is, if you don't know how to program don't worry, you can TEST for us as though anyone who can double-click something is qualified. I was not qualified.
