Kristofer, the main link to this list in OpenOffice.org is at http://support.openoffice.org/, only three lines below a big header which says "Free Community support". the list definition in the same page explicitly says "OpenOffice.org Project community support provided by a network of hundreds of experienced users" the page http://www.openoffice.org/mail_list.html explicitly says "If you're having problems with any of the lists, please contact the list owner rather than posting your problem to the whole list". Had you been an Internet novice, nobody would have made an issue of this. Since you aren't a novice, I do admit that I was a bit annoyed and surprised to see a **second** message showing that you had not taken the time to find out who you really wanted to communicate with. I hope this closes this part of the discussion. Back to spambots now. For the record (I forgot to say it earlier, sorry) I even agree with you that obfuscating email addresses in the archives would make the list *look* more professional (even if I have strong doubts on the effectiveness) > Our web site is built with Joomla (another great open source > project) which hides the e-mail addresses from spam bots - try > shutting off your JavaScript when viewing the site and you will not > be able to see the e-mail address. I admit that I had completely forgotten the existence of Javascript address obfuscators when I wrote my earlier reply. It doesn't change much what I wrote, however. This is the piece of JavaScript in which Joomla hides your email address inside www.jansater.se/kristofer-aberg: var prefix = 'ma' + 'il' + 'to'; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy9506 = 'kristofer' + '@'; addy9506 = addy9506 + 'jansater' + '.' + 'se'; document.write( '<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + ':' + addy9506 + '\'>' ); document.write( addy9506 ); Your address is "hidden" in the 3rd and 4th line. It took me 2 minutes to find it, and a couple more minutes to discover online that this is a Joomla function which has been well documented for years (http://help.joomla.org/content/view/515/125/) and is really simple to reverse engineer: substitute to each &#NUMBER; string the ASCII value of NUMBER, remove all the + signs and spaces, concatenate, remove variable name... So don't be so sure that Joomla is always successfully hiding your email addresses. People with a monetary incentive to harvest addresses probably cracked that plugin years ago. If you get more spam it's more productive to upgrade your spam filters.
