It is called transparency.

And unlike closed source projects, FLOSS projects thrive on being
transparent, and letting third parties _usually_ know what the options
were, why decisions were made, and why everybody else thinks that those
decisions were wrong.  In some cases, discussion about bad decisions,
and their justifications linger for years in the FLOSS community.
