LilyPond should do what you want. It's free.

and there's an OpenOffice.org extension available that connects to Lilypond:

The last update (v. 0.40) of the oxt file was from June 13th 2009 and it
works in OOo 3.3.0 (just tested with Lilypond's stable branch from
http://www.lilypond.org). There's also a lot of helpful documentation on
the projects' website.
