The entire point is infact to send bulk mail to many people and then have their responses sent to everyone on the list. They harken back to a day of 14 baud modems and fax machines. The trade off is easy management for whoever maintains them. We could host a forum but that requires moderators, complicated registration, and finding good opensource software that still blocks pornbots.
