Any day this week, I'll be up there Tuesday for the meeting and later Wednesday. Getting a classic cisco to talk to Asterisk is a bit of a right of passage for those learning soft-switching. Basically you change the firmware, then pull all the provisioning stuff from the Asterisk server itself (tftp). They work great as IP phones but: have no backlight, remind you of the tv show "24" whenever they ring, use cisco's "special" PoE that is incompatible with the rest of the world. (minirant: Everyone was (figuratively) at a table coming up with PoE, cisco and pals ran off and quick released something insane, then when the rest of the table had it figured it out cisco kept crying no NO NO ours is teh awesomez and your all full of poo, if yer not using all our stuff screw you, we are borg... etc. minirant truncated) Anyway, I have two 48v powersupplies that should do the trick. Thank you so much for the donation, these make excelent ip phones (hold up well in the cold too). The asterisk box should still work but it's been off waiting for a nice comfy warm rack to move into. If anyone knows of a half or full rack that will fit through the door that can be had free or freeish, that has been on the space's list since opening. An older full height-4post won't (ask me how i know)
speaking of things: Anyone remember that little 7pin round svid looking connector to 3 rca component cable that used to come with every new vid card? Anyone have one? (email me) Also: A decent windows comp is back in the Perkins room (sorry it took so long), I don't know how long that one in particular will stay but I will keep something that can run win8 there indefinitely, and whatever stuffs is on the guest account will be transferred. Like the last one, I'm running some background stuffs on it so please if at all possible, leave plugged in/on/ethernetted (is that a term? if not it should be). Also like the last one, there is a guest account with admin rights - go nuts. <3 On Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 11:20 AM, Omar Rassi <[email protected]> wrote: > Justin, I forgot to mention that the ip Phones are a great addition.
