Interesting. Dusty's question got me curious. There's good news. On the
surface, it looks like it's free for a "club, family, sports team or group":

http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

And one may wonder if that applies to businesses. Well, if you look at the
comparison page:

http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/editions.html

It does say that "Both editions include.Gmail and Google Calendar to help
businesses save money and keep employees connected". And that's the
50-user-account-limited one you refer to Dusty, so it seems they're kind of
guiding people to the commercial one for business, but it's not mandatory
(of course, the features may make a difference, and at only $50 per user
account per year, those additions could be cheap for some companies.)

Just to be clear, there's also the free editions for non-profits
(http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/org/index.html) and schools
(http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/edu/index.html).

Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Looking for a CF Host

I second the recommendation on Google Apps. I've used for a year or so and
it has been a blessing for me. I was under the impression it is not free
anymore though since it is no longer in Beta. Am I missing something about
that. I got in when it was still in Beta and it still runs great for me at
no cost.

By "email" if you mean that you're looking to host the domain's email at the
same place, I'd suggest instead that you use Google Apps for the email. Free
for under 25 accounts per domain, easy, and if your webhost happens to go
down for technical reasons, you still have your email.

Hi all,

I will be looking soon for a host for a small CF site I'll be writing. The
main consideration at this point is cost, since the site is likely to
involve nothing more complicated than data (e.g. SQL Server), passwords, and
e-mail. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Peyton
