Using remoteobject for both cases? I don't know which would be more efficient, XML or just the dataset being returned. Certainly might be some overhead in creating the XML from the dataset, eh? I've been returning some XML based on recordsets of 4000+ records and it does quite well. Most resent case using FDS and Java on the server, a XML string of length over 71000 chars returns to a flex Tree, on my local desktop with a remote DB in Ohio it all happens within 1 sec. But then I'm on some uber-high-bandwidth here.
What has been touted is use of remoteobject over REST or WebServices because remoteobject uses the AMF3 format and all. DK On 1/30/07, Howard Fore <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hey, I'm sure someone's studied this but I couldn't find it. If I'm getting a large dataset from a CFC, what's the difference in overhead between using XML as a data provider vs a query in a remote object? -- Howard Fore, [EMAIL PROTECTED] "In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." - Theodore Roosevelt ------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, simply email the list with unsubscribe in the subject line For more info, see http://www.affug.com Archive @ http://www.mail-archive.com/discussion%40affug.com/ List hosted by http://www.fusionlink.com -------------------------------------------------------------
