Rather than learn PHP, I decided to build this in Flex and then have the Flex movie hit my ColdFusion server. I was surprised to find that this movie was 264KB. I know Flex does a lot, but I wished it could be more like 100K. So, I started pulling things out to see what took up how much space. For those that haven't done this, here's what I found: - The smallest possible Flex movie is 173KB. Just create an application and compile it, and this is what you get. - Just adding an <mx:WebService> added 50K. - A Tab Navigator adds about 20K. I know, once the SWF get's cached, it doesn't really matter anymore. I just thought this was interesting.
