Ken,
You kind of missed the point. Avoid Ajax like the plague that it is;
replace it instead with an invisible Flex/Flash "data portal". Using
AJAX is complicated enough - and unfortunately most API's that I've
seen are so bloated with features that if you're going to pay the
penalty, you might as well be in control. Unless you are a masochist
of course, then by all means ... cross browser compatability is fun
and rewarding.
