Darin,

I understood the point.  There are times when you can't have a full blown flex 
app for many reasons and the solution you outlined would have some nice 
benefits over plain javascript for doing data access.  Don't think that I was 
dismissing it. I happen to be really excited about flex being a big part of the 
future of RIA's and was letting some of that enthusiasm out with my tongue in 
cheek comment.  Right now I think I am in some sort of 'honeymoon' phase with 
flex and haven't seen enough of the inevitable warts to temper that enthusiasm 
:).
