Yes, We were having problems with the datefield defaulting the time to 00:00:00 GMT-03. It would cause it to be seen as 22:00:00 GMT-05, previous day. Since only the date and not daet time was being persisted...we got wacked. Quick solution was to set time to 12:00:00 local time after they select a date. That way we could ignore timezone differences since it didn't effect day of month.
Since we don't care about time...this worked. Otherwise you would have to be sure to save datetime with offset, etc. Then be sure it converted back and forth... Fun with Date class is fun, fun, fun. Dates in AS transfer the TZ info to Java, the converse holds true too. In our case we wanted all times in EST, so we had to 'time shift' all dates coming and going to the client using the timezoneOffset property of date. have to be careful of what your DB does too. I'd try a trace() of your Date before it goes to Java land then a log() of that date in Java land before anything touches it so you can see what is happening. Thinking maybe that the time zone info is not being transfered from teh Actionscript Value Object to the Java Value Object. Thoughts? It is a Flex application using Flex Data Services. It uses The Java version of the Spring framework to persist the data. My issue is that When a user selects a date via a Datefield date picker in the US, it is saved correctly. When they do so in Brazil, it is saved incorrectly..or atleast not the same as the date solected on the screen. Both sides have the latest Flash player installed, both have JRE 1.3.1_02. If they select today, it saves to the database as yesterday. If they select Feb 20th, 1970, it saves to the database as Feb 3rd, 1970. I'm looking for any suggestions in how to fix this thing.
