I've dealt w/printing out of Flash in the past, and Flex hasn't made it
any easier. After trial and error, I have found the best approach is one
of parallel development; plan on creating a dedicated container to hold
your printed version. Usually, I let this render offscreen.
In Flash, I would create an empty movieclip and start rendering
everything inside of it, manually controlling position (a la Flex
Canvas). Flex makes this easier, b/c you can do it all in a VBox.
One gotcha--you may have to make sure everything is rendered/populated
w/data before you issue the print command. Otherwise you might end of up
w/empty controls, as data is still coming it asynchronously.
Best of luck,
Scott

I was looking for input on how to solve printing in my application.
Seems like Adobe made printing quite a pain. I’m not looking for
reporting solutions that create pdf’s, although we will be doing this.
What I’m looking for is how the group handles simple things like the
user wants to print the screen they are looking at. Most of our pages
will have vertical scroll bars. Not necessarily DataGrids, but say
several components placed vertically on a canvas with the canvas
having the vertical scrollbar.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dale
